Confirm compatibility before buying a key

Give the year, make and model and identify the key or fob you have. Ask the provider to confirm the part rather than relying only on an online listing. Used keys, incompatible electronics or a different regional specification may make a part unsuitable. Do not assume every supplied fob can be reused.

Describe the starting point

• Is there a key that still starts the vehicle?
• Are you adding a spare or replacing every missing key?
• Who is supplying the key, and does it also need cutting?
• Are remote buttons, proximity entry and starting all included?

Agree on cost and completion

Ask whether the vehicle needs to be present, whether the work can be done on location and how ownership is checked. Confirm the charge for diagnosis or an unsuccessful attempt, as well as parts, cutting, programming and travel. At handover, test each function that was included in the quote.

Programming is not every fob repair
